Often women are not allowed to eat or drink during labor. Various reasons:

- Glucose biscuits: Small bites every half an hour or so.
- Glucose powder: Mix with water for some yummy energy.
- Chilled water: Water is great to keep you hydrated and when it is chilled it also helps to lower your body temperature.
- Hard toffee: Something sweet and tangy to suck on.
- Chocolate: Its high in sugar and is also helps to boost your mood.
